The first scheduled clinic will provide vaccinations to children for their first dose of the vaccine and for pregnant women that have not been able to receive the vaccine from their physician.
The second scheduled clinic will provide vaccinations for adults up to 64 years of age who might be at greater risk for the H1N1 virus because they have a chronic illness or compromised immune system, work in healthcare or as an Emergency Medical Professional, or care for infants less than 6 months of age.
Children 6 months through 9 years old should receive two doses of vaccine or mist at least 21 to 28 days apart. Parents are required to accompany children up to age 18 years of age.
Aside from the injectable vaccine, Intranasal H1N1 Flu Mist will be available for children 2 years and those up to 24 years old who are healthy and have no underlying health conditions, and adults ages 25 to 49 who are healthy and have no underlying health conditions.
Healthy adults and those 65 years and older are not eligible to receive this vaccine until the priority groups have been vaccinated. We will hold future clinics to handle this group of vaccinations.
For school-aged children who received the first dose in November, the Health Department is working with the Board of Education to provide the second vaccination for students 9 years old and younger on December 17th at West Orange High School from 4 to 7:30 pm.
To facilitate the registration process, download the consent form at www.westorange.org, complete it, and bring it with you to the clinic.
Blank forms will also be available at the clinics for on-site registration.
